The Des Moines Children’s Museum has been a staple in the community since it first opened its doors around 2018. From the very beginning, this center has put play at the center of everything they do. Their engaging environment captures kids’ education to encourage a sense of creativity. At the same time, this is a center looking at how they can help families build up connections. They regularly host adult-only events where you can meet other parents and create your village. The museum is currently located on the lower level of the Valley West Mall. However, an exciting change is waiting right around the corner! They are currently looking at bigger and better buildings with even more ways for your child to play!
Everything To Explore At The Des Moines Children’s Museum
The Des Moines Children’s Museum gives your child a safe space where they can explore in their own way! Their goal is to give kids meaningful opportunities to discover brand-new things. The museum has worked to create curated playscapes where your child can come in and engage their imagination. They can pretend to be farmers or go for a ride on a boat over imaginary waters. There are play homes and shops as well as a fire station complete with a fireman’s pole! Throughout the rooms, you will find slides and structures where your child can explore at their own speed. While you are able to pay by the visit, their annual memberships are a great deal! With these, you will be able to stop by as much as you’d like!

The museum often hosts events that let you get connected to other parents while supporting the museum. Each year, they host a Giggle Gala where you can come and play casino games, participate in a silent auction, and enjoy some wine. It’s a great way to support a good cause while having the best night ever!
