The Peppermint Trail

Each year in the middle of December, The Avenues of Ingersoll & Grand hosts The Peppermint Trail. Things kick off in the morning with a Gingerbread House Decorating Contest at Creme. Once you are done here, you can walk along the streets and check out all kinds of window displays. You’ll get to hear songs from carolers, watch live ice carving, hop on board a trolley ride, and meet Santa as he visits all the stores!
Winter Wonderland

If you are in the mood for some drinks, be sure to check out Winter Wonderland at Nightingale Cocktail! This annual experience is mostly for adults, though kids are allowed with a parent or guardian. As you listen to holiday music, you’ll get to sample different themed cocktails sure to put you in the Christmas spirit! There will also be laser light shows every 30 minutes.
Christkindlmarket

If you need the perfect excuse to stock up on timeless Christmas decorations, be sure to schedule a visit to the Christkindlmarket! This annual event brings you 700 years of holiday traditions right in the heart of the city. There will be bratwurst, candied nuts, and other authentic German foods, plus there will be a diverse selection of entertainment. The event is perfect for every member of the family, including the pups!
Jingle in the Junction
5th Street and Railwood Park, West Des Moines, Iowa 50265
Jingle in the Junction is an event that takes place in the middle of December at Valley Junction. Throughout the celebration, all the stores stay open a little later to make sure you can shop for the perfect gifts. Additionally, there will be entertainers as well as live reindeer ready to show off for your photos!
Holiday Hullabaloo

Holiday Hullabaloo will take place at Southridge Event Center throughout December. Each weekend brings a brand new theme and activities that will help you celebrate in style. From making Christmas ornaments to getting cozy in your ugly sweaters, you will have a memorable way to welcome the holidays. Be sure to keep an eye on the schedule so you can come by to meet both Santa and the Grinch!
