Beaverdale Fall Festival takes place around the middle of September. For two days, you can swing by for some live music, fabulous food, and samples from all the best area vendors. Be sure to check the schedule before you make your plans. Each year, they host events such as car nights, trivia nights, whiskey tastings, and an annual parade throughout the weekend.

If you are the type of person who just cannot get enough apples during peak season, Honeycrisp Weekend, just outside Des Moines, is your perfect fall festival. This annual event takes place at the beginning of each September and gives you endless ways to celebrate! You can come out to Wilson’s Orchard and Farm, where you can try apple cider, decadent desserts, and live music. They also have their U-Pick orchards available!

Hosted by Center Grove Orchard, Scarecrow Fest is a season-long fall festival that gives you the best way to get into the autumn spirit near Des Moines. They have events happening all the way from the beginning of September through the beginning of November. While you’re here, you can race down the super slides, try out the jumping pillows, or take a ride across the hayrack.

Windsor Heights Fall Fest happens each year at Colby Park. Things kick off Friday evening with a movie in the park. During this fall festival, you and your Des Moines family can enjoy free pizza, popcorn, drinks, and cookies while watching a kid-friendly spooky movie. The next day starts out with a pancake breakfast followed by a mini-marathon. There will also be a costume bike ride for kids, a parade, bounce houses, and so much more.

If you are the type of person who just can’t get enough of history, I think you’ll adore Applefest at Living History Farms! This annual event lets you party like it’s 1899. You can see how chefs of the past prepared apples, go behind the scenes of an antique tractor, and watch a historic baseball game. There will also be games, live music, and crafts.
