No fall is complete without a trip to the pumpkin patch! This is your chance to go out with the people you love the most and spend some time making fall memories you can keep with you long after the leaves are back to their uniform shade of green. As a Des Moines family photographer, I love working with people to help them make the most of each and every season. If you are looking for the best pumpkin patch in Des Moines for your family, here are a few I think you will love!

Kickstart The Season With A Visit To A Wonderful Pumpkin Patch In Des Moines

Wilson’s Orchard

4823 Dingleberry Rd NE, Iowa City, Iowa 52240

Wilson’s Orchard has been a local tradition since 1980. While the family might have built up their reputation on their apples (seriously, don’t sleep on their ciders!), their pumpkin patch is the spot to be throughout the colder months. The season starts each year on the first of October with a Pumpkin Fest to kick things off!

Wills Family Orchard

33130 Panther Creek Rd, Adel, Iowa 50003

Wills Family Orchard is a family-owned farm dedicated to sustainable farming. Throughout each fall, they have seasonal Des Moines events, including an apple orchard and a pumpkin patch. Before you pick out your perfect jack-o-lantern, you can check out the corn maze, navigate the spider web, and then head out on a hay wagon ride. They also have delicious fresh food made right on site!

Center Grove Orchard

32835 610th Avenue, Cambridge, Iowa 50046

Center Grove Orchard prides themselves on making family memories you’ll want to keep for years to come! This quaint farm offers fresh strawberries, colorful wildflowers, and some of the biggest pumpkins in town. They even have a pumpkin patch valet service so you can have someone else haul your pumpkins while you explore this Des Moines farm! With your admission, you will also get access to the farm attractions as well as unlimited rides on the orchard train.

Iowa Orchard

9875 Meredith Drive, Urbandale, Iowa 50322

Iowa Orchard has become the place where Des Moines gets their pumpkins! This classic farm has tons of old-fashioned activities, including a playground inside the Family Fun Zone. You can come out, choose from hundreds of their pumpkins, take some pics, and grab a fresh-baked pie to enjoy after dinner.

Howell’s Greenhouse and Pumpkin Patch

3145 Howell Court, Cumming, Iowa 50061

You could spend hours at Howell’s Greenhouse and Pumpkin Patch, and you still wouldn’t run out of things to do. This farm has it all, including a zipline, a corn maze, a jump pad, a pumpkin cannon, a corn pool, and a play area. If you get hungry throughout your time here, never fear. They have concession stands and a cafe. Once you’re done with all this, you can top it off with a trip to the pumpkin patch.
